Nasty state authorities are actually enforcing the law with respect to illegal immigrants. Can you believe it?  And this just in: a police deputy shot an suspected illegal immigrant in the stomach with an AK47  . . . .  no, wait, I got that backwards. It turns out that the suspected illegal immigrant — one of a gang hauling bales of marijuana along a smuggling corridor in Arizona —  was toting the AK47. It was he who shot the deputy sheriff, not the other way around. Silly me. How did I get that wrong? “The shooting,” one news report observes,  “came as Arizona grapples with backlash over its enactment of a tough new law targeting illegal immigration.
