Bush lose to Bill Clinton in 1992? Doubtless you could adduce several reasons, including &amp;#8220;it&amp;#8217;s the economy, stupid.&amp;#8221; But there was also the matter of a broken promise:  &amp;#8220;Read my lips: no new taxes.&amp;#8221; Enterprising observers have compiled an illuminating collage of President Obama promising not to negotiate health care &amp;#8220;reform&amp;#8221; &amp;#8220;behind closed doors.&amp;#8221; He would bring &amp;#8220;all parties together,&amp;#8221; he said in one of his exhibitions of campaign foreplay, &amp;#8220;broadcasting those negotiations on CSPAN so that the American people can see what the choices are.&amp;#8221; During the campaign, CSPAN was his mantra: the objective correlative of his promise to make his administration the most &amp;#8220;open and transparent&amp;#8221; ever.
