Tim, liberalism being defeated? I don't see any signs of that as yet with the government schools cranking out indoctrinated one world socialist oriented historically illiterate young people being worked over by the multicultural and diversity scam are unable or even unwilling to defend the Western civilization that nurtured own freedom and prosperity. Send them off to college unprepared to withstand the brainwashing of tenured Marxist professors the radicals have captured the education establishment with the plan of a long-term goal of incremental transformation.

The radicals of the 60s that rebelled against "The Man" have jettisoned the tie dye T-shirts and beads
got haircuts started wearing suits and ties and have now become The Man pushing their brand of socialist establishment and the sad part is those of us who saw it coming were marginalized and disbelieved, well now it's here like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick and the people are beginning to wake up read their constitution and their history and discovered that we are awash with domestic corrupt bureaucratic enemies that understand human nature enough to promise free stuff stolen from their neighbors who may have worked harder or been a little wiser in their business dealings, the appeal to the lowest common denominator of human nature and the sin of envy and covetousness.

Our founders stated that the form of government they gave us would only work for a moral and religious people and they were right, we have practically kicked God out of America and an understanding of natural law that our country was founded on we are only reaping what we've sown. I do see an awakening taking place and I only hope it's not too late, hard times are coming there's no escaping that.

[...] But raising revenue isn’t really the point. The chief goal of the President’s 2 percent solution is, first, to punish success and then to render its repetition impossible. What we have here is an perfect example of what James Piereson has called “punitive liberalism,” i.e., the distinctly illiberal pursuit of vengeance against class enemies through policies that may be counterproductive but that have the advantage of penalizing a part of the population that so-called liberals find distasteful. I wrote about this dimension of the President’s platform during the campaign (see “Obama’s punitive liberalism, or why treating success as a form of failure is wrong“).
