That Obama &amp;#8220;never completed a single work of legal scholarship&amp;#8221; may seem surprising given that he was teaching at a major research university where, as the Times notes, &amp;#8220;most colleagues published by the pound.&amp;#8221; Unsurprising is that, even back then, Obama exuded an aura of &amp;#8220;self-absorption&amp;#8221; and was surrounded by &amp;#8220;groupies.&amp;#8221; Also unsurprising is that fact that much of his teaching concerned issues of race and that, as the Times puts it, he &amp;#8220;was especially eager for his charges to understand the horrors of the past, students say.&amp;#8221; Just this past Sunday, at a Chicago fundraiser, he lectured his audience about the &amp;#8220;sad,&amp;#8221; even &amp;#8220;tragic&amp;#8221; nature of America&amp;#8217;s past.  &amp;#8220;I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged,&amp;#8221; he said.]]&gt;</description><pubDate>Thu, 31 Jul 2008 05:34:00 -0400</pubDate><creator xmlns="dc">&lt;![CDATA[Roger Kimball]]&gt;</creator><enclosure url="" type="image/jpeg" length="123" /><link>https://pjmedia.com/roger-kimball/2008/07/31/when-acknowledgment-means-perpetuation-or-obama-liberals-and-the-issue-of-race-n115039</link></item></channel></rss>
