As a life-long resident of Toledo, I hope you (the reader) will understand most Toledoans are not behind the Mayor’s abrupt decision. An incident such as this is typical of micro-management and a shoot from the hip decision making process. You may recall this same Mayor suggesting that people living near the airport who complained of the noise sell their homes to people who are hearing impaired. This guy has embarrassed us many times before and I hope the country does not view the entire population of Toledo as indicative of our Mayor’s actions.

I grew up in Toledo, Ohio and have hurt for the city because it was, at one time, a great place to live. I used to swell with pride as the Lake Freighters sailed up and down the Maumee River. With the exodus of jobs and the increasing reach of the welfare state, Toledo is not what she once was.

Now Toledo is associated with the despicable Berkeley.

God help us all.

These gutless public officials jump on the bandwagon when in their minds it’s safe.

But ignorance reigns supreme these days. Whatever one’s beliefs are, one is free to act on those beliefs only because Americans have joined their Armed Forces and stood between America and her enemies.

Mr. Finkbeiner, Americans aren’t afraid of the United States Marines. They’re afraid of arrogant, power-hungry, self-aggrandizing politicians like yourself.

May the people of Toledo rise up and throw this arrogant asshat out of office.

This so called ‘lack of communication’ is caused by Carty’s arrogant, pompous demeanor in the first place. That’s why nobody wanted to tell him the Marines were coming. When are Toledoans going to wake up? Businesses are leaving town. New ones are not locating here. This town has been run by the same wacked out, liberal, America-hating, unfriendly to business Democrats for decades and what’s it getting us? Carty’s answer to improving Toledo is buying flowers and signs, meanwhile businesses and people are leaving quicker than lightning. Maybe Toledo should vote the Republican ticket next election. It can’t get any worse.

U.S. Citizens, Toledo or elsewhere in the U.S. need not fear the United States Marines.

They should fear airhead politicians such as Finkbeiner.

A U.S. Marine can be your best friend or your worst enemy.

A former Toledo resident, I am happier than ever to now live in MI. And even tho I work “across the line”, I’m blessed to work in Sylvania Township. Nonetheless, I am ashamed and embarressed by the Mayor of Toledo’s actions, AGAIN. Why intelligent people gave that “baboon” another opportunity to act exactly as he does on their dime is beyond me. Reminds me of the old adage, “fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. ” Shame on you citizens of Toledo – you’ve received exactly what you asked for.
Carty: baboons that live in glass cities shouldn’t throw Marines out.

There appears to be a trend of democraps (er, excuse me, I meant democrats), that disrespect the military. It causes one to wonder what a President Hillary or Obama really feels about the military. I think we know the answer to that. To which I can only say: Semper Fidelis — we will still be there to protect you, oh traitorous mayor!

Thank you for your common sense, Carol. If I saw Marines running down the street with guns, I would think either A. training exercise, or B. bad guys are afoot, in which case I’d be happy to have the Marines there. Since I must have slept through the part in history class detailing the long tragic story of frequent military coups we’ve had in this country and the habit the USMC has of invading and pillaging American cities, the idea that the Marines were the bad guys would not enter my head.

It just occurred to me that maybe Carty is one of the 7 or so people in the nation who actually saw the spate of military-hating movies that came out in the fall and believed them. So maybe he does think the Marines are like the Crips and the Bloods. Or maybe he’s just a jackass.

Unfortunately our Mayor has chosen to start another fire storm. His disrespect to, and convoluted view on, the US Marines training in Toledo is sad. So very sad.

I may be startled by the sight of an armed Marine running up the street, but I am intelligent enough to quickly realize that their presence is not terror related. If there were a real terror threat/attack we would all know it long before you saw a Marine anywhere.

I am so very thankful that we have the many branches of the armed services to keep us safe.
