Love it, but I wish this was easier to find. Took me like 15 mins to find on the schools website directory - otherwise, top notch!

Jeez. You just had to do it again with the $5 words, didn't you? "Animadversion". Hold still while I stomp you.

Anyhoo ... I have a somewhat different take on "change" and reform. It is that only those who actually know and understand the current scene and the history thereof are qualified to comment or propose alterations. Most liberals and progressives fail this test instantly, other than having a few specious generalizations to cover all, notably the "dead and/or fat white male" explanation of all institutions and ills. Of those who do have more "nuanced" views, they in great part are beavering away at constructing revisionist histories, some of which, like the "US lost the Vietnam War" one, they have managed to implant in the treasury of public certainties by using a sort of grotesque hybrid of the Echo Chamber and Big Lie techniques.

Much of the job of the "saving remnant" is to document and assemble the incompatible facts with which to bludgeon these miscegenated certainties into submission or pulp, whichever is appropriate.

<strong>"The Conservative view of gloominess, truth and change"</strong>

I can't extract a quote from this Kimball essay, because it's all of a piece. Just read it if you are curious about the future of Conservatism.
