Obama Slips

August 20, 2008 - 11:32 am - by Richard Miniter

Barrack Obama’s wife says that when he is president “he will make you work.” Well, it looks like it is Obama himself who will have to work to be president.

The coronation has been put on hold.

The latest Zogby/Reuters poll shows McCain leading Obama by five points–the first time that the GOP candidate has been in the lead since Hillary dropped out.

Support for Obama seems to be sinking across all categories:

The dip in support for Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, cut across demographic and ideological lines. He slipped among Catholics, born-again Christians, women, independents and younger voters. He retained the support of more than 90 percent of black voters.

“There were no wild swings, there isn’t one group that is radically different than last month or even two months ago. It was just a steady decline for Obama across the board,” Zogby said.

Notice how Reuters works in the first black president bit? That gambit has two prongs: If Obama is winning it shows that he is a different kind of leader and can’t be held to ordinary standards and if he is losing, liberals can blame the voters for being racists.

I’ve met dozens of liberals in the past few weeks who bring up the race issue. Is America ready for a black president? they ask portentously, like their crystal ball is showing them something they don’t want to see. Or America is such a racist country, they say. Look at all the hicks in West Virginia and Kentucky that voted for Hillary. And so on. (Of course, the real racists are liberals living in major coastal cities running “affirmative action” programs for colleges, corporations and city agencies. But I digress.)

Strangely, I hear none of this America-is-racist-and-not-ready-for-a-black-president talk from black Democrats. A concert promoter, who is politically independent, says he is proud of Obama, the way the Irish were proud of Kennedy. That sounds right to me. I remember my older Irish relatives fondly talking about Kennedy in the 1970s and 1980s–long after he had been killed in Dallas. As for the racist bit? Well, Obama is going to win, he says, and then we will see how racist this country is.

At the Capitol Hill Cigar Lounge, a nearly 100% black establishment on Florida Avenue, I took an informal poll. Everyone supported Obama, except for one off-duty policeman. No one thought that racism was going to cost Obama the election, though a few ventured that some racist might shoot him before he is sworn in. (Kennedy again.) Yes, they thought racism was a problem. But it hadn’t stopped them and wouldn’t stop Obama. Okay, it is not a scientific survey. But it is interesting how black liberal opinion in D.C. differs from white liberal opinion in D.C. — and which one is the more fatalistic.

So why is Obama slipping in the latest Zogby poll? Its not racism, it is the economy. McCain leads by nine points (49-40%) over Obama on that issue, which is the no. 1 issue for a large plurality of voters this year.

Unfortunately for Obama, gas prices have become a proxy for the economy. The higher pump prices climb, the more people think the economy is sinking. McCain’s flip-flop to support offshore drilling showed sympathy. It was translated as: He is willing to fight the establishment to improve the economy for average people.

By contrast, Obama couldn’t depart from liberal orthodoxy (which openly favors high gas prices because it will force us to change the type of fuel we use in our cars). He finally managed to say something along the lines that while he favors higher prices, he thought prices climbed too fast. Huh? Later, he favored some sort of drilling as part of package involving more subsidies to alternative energies. … His flip-flop wasn’t dramatic enough and was weeks too late. Hence Obama is losing on this issue.

Reuters wants to attribute McCain’s rise to his attacks on Obama. McCain’s “attacks” have been gentle. It is just that anything short of worshipful deference strikes liberal reporters as harsh. It is a shame they don’t treat him that a regular candidate; the criticism might make Obama better.

Still, the Zogby polls shows that issues matter more than most journalists want to admit.

And this year, so far, high gas prices are the issue and Obama is on the wrong side of it.

“It is a shame they don’t treat him that a regular candidate; the criticism might make Obama better.”

Indeed. He would do well to learn from his imperfections…if he thought he had any.

As for race…well, I said back on April 2nd (on Roger L. Simon’s website) “…race will come into the campaign mostly from Democrats, who’ll be using it as a response to every single criticism of their candidate (of which there will be deservedly many).”

You see what is happening here…when Obama loses (and he will by a good margin!) liberals can assuage
themselves with the notion that he lost becuase he is black…NOT because of his liberal policies and views.

It’s NO LOSE situation for them…even if they lose!

Hey, look, they’ll say…we tried nominating a black guy this time. It was a noble gesture on our part…but America is just still too racist and not ready…but we did our part! See? We’re still the good guys around here!

Get ready for the rationalizing. It’s coming.

  3. Its so sad this oik is the first candidate for President who is not white. There are so many far better choices than he.

Dave II has hit it right on the head.

  4. 4. RE

A better question than ‘Why is he slipping?’ is “How did someone so grossly unqualified get there in the first place?”

  5. 5. George Clarke

He got there only because of the anti-Clinton factor.

Mr. Miniter writes, “And this year, so far, high gas prices are the issue and Obama is on the wrong side of it.”

Hey, MISTER: how long BEFORE Russia’s invasion of Georgia didja write this piece?!!?

    ‘nuf said on that.

As to “whining about “negative advertising,” maybe one political party is forgetting about Lyndon Johnson’s (D) 1964 “Daisy/Bomb” ad…or that this is part of why it’s called politics.

Do you not think ” organizing neiborhoods ” to sue white landlords qualifies a person to be POTUS? Only in liberal land. I can’t stand McCain, but he’s the lesser of 2 evils compared to an unreconstructed, unrepentant marxist like the messiah. God knows we have a Hobson’s choice facing us.

  8. 8. Bajema

People keep forgetting he’s half white.

It’s odd to me how gas prices, which are beyond the jurisdiction of any government – you know, separation of church and state, separation of economy and state, separation of individual and state – 2008? – oops, I thought this was 3008. Sorry, I was reading the clock in this government issue time machine and then glanced at my Rolex.

The Daley administration sealed all the files from when Obama chaired the Annenberg Education Foundation at UIC. THEY WERE AFRAID IT WOULD EXPOSE HOW CLOSE HE WAS TO BILL AYERS!

  11. 11. Tom

Since we are talking about race, O is not the only landmark candidate running…what if every black person who is voting for O switched to the other black person running for Prez – Alan Keyes – he’s actually qualified, conservative(but what does that matter? black is black, right?), and a ton of evangelicals would vote for him. Talk about dumping the DNC….

  12. 12. Robert

All of this talk about racism and affirmative action among the white democrats is compensation for their own racism. They know they’re racist and they’re extremely eager to prove that they aren’t by supporting compensatory racism and accusing others of racism.

The extreme form of this is multiculturalism where the racists try to publicly compensate for their racism by suggesting that different laws should apply to different cultural/ethnic groups.

So it’s not the least bit surprising to me that white Democrats are much more eager to cry racism than black Democrats are. The black ones aren’t secretly racist against black people and thus don’t need to try to compensate for it like the white ones do.

See also Mr. Strawn”s article, “China’s Spectacle of Lies” :

“As for playing by the rules, friendly competition, and mutual respect, the message from China is clear: forget it. These Olympics have been a reality TV political lesson for the world. [BUT NOT FOR OBAMA] As we all know, reality TV isn’t really real. But the truths it tells about our culture by way of its content constitute as harsh a lesson in cultural decay as any. China’s spectacle isn’t a portrait of decay, but rather one of an ascendant culture of power, illiberalism, and lies.”

“Mao once said that a question of first importance is who one’s enemies and friends are. This is advice that Americans, especially those who have forgotten what it means to have enemies in the world, should be heeding. [WHICH OBAMA IS ALSO NOT HEEDING] Many of those same Americans have also grown comfortable blaming the bad behavior of any foreign nation on United States policy. [...NEED I MENTION...?...OBAMA!] Again, it’s worth consulting the chairman himself, who once wrote that liberalism is “extremely harmful” and “corrosive.” Those institutions that allow us to confront our leaders and to openly debate our values and ideas are considered antithetical to the unity of the party. This isn’t a question of what the U.S. has done to China to make them this way. It’s a matter of what China is at its core.”

IT AIN’T JUST GAS PRICES, BUDDY.

Look, This election campaign has been going on for almost two years. You can hide who you really are for a while, but not for two years. Only 10-12% of voters say they are undecided. Every day more of them see Obama for what he is, a candidate from the extreme left of the democractic party. That’s why Obama is slipping in the polls. No candidate from the extreme left or right can possibly win. Only someone near the center. It has nothing to do with race or gender, and all the advertising in the world, won’t change it. The electorate sees it, it’s over. McCain wins big.

Obama is slipping because he is an empty suit! He has no experience, he panders, he flip-flops and he cannot speak without a script and a teleprompter. He is also not forthright in discussing his background or limited political exposure. HE HAS NOT BEEN VETTED, and God forbid the MSM be objective and do thier job! This man has no clue what it takes to be the President of this great nation, nor does his persona emote a presidential stature. Character traits he is sorely lacking in are respect (which you have to earn — and he has confused with patriotism) and humility. I firmly believe Obama is the Racist, not the press, not the voters, not John McCain. This man, Obama, will do great harm to the country, I think the voters are finally gettting the wake up call. Personally, I would never vote for a candidate based soley on the individuals race/color. Shame on those who will.

  17. 17. Saltherring

Obama is the product of urban leftists and their drive-by media shills. Their echo-chamber culture and self-derived ideological isolation precludes them from comprehending why the rest of the country (read: people who actually work for a living) doesn’t buy into their bankrupt Marxist belief system. Translation: Since the shiny new paint has now been rubbed off the Obama campaign, it has come down to issues, and Obama’s platform is constructed from rotted lumber. I am in agreement with Mike, as I too can’t stand McCain, but have been left with no viable alternative.

  18. 18. Jessica

And why does he keep saying that the McCain campaign or Republicans talk about his name being “funny” or that his patriotism is being questioned? There’s not been one person in the McCain camp or anyone that I know of, or even in any conservative blog, who says his name is “funny”. Geez, the only one who keeps bringing this up is Obama himself. If we dare say anything about his name or question his religion, his upbringing, his past – we’d be accused of being racist.

And no serious-minded person questions his patriotism. But what we do question is his judgment and character. Why did it take 20 years to denounce his hate-mongering ex-Pastor, and only after the media and his supporters convinced him to do so? Why can’t he answer in a straightforward manner Pastor Warren’s question about a baby’s right to life without all the long pauses and word-searching? Why can’t he admit, like the rest of the world, that the surge succeeded? Why won’t he show off his African relatives during the Democratic Convention in Denver, just like he will show off his Caucasian grandparents that week in front of millions of people? Why isn’t he proud to show the world and America his African and Indonesian roots? Why did he choose to work out at the gym rather than speak to wounded military members at the Landstuhl Hospital who were anxiously waiting for him, knowing that he can go to a gym any day of the year, but meeting those wounded soldiers in Germany, is a rare event in his busy life? He needs to answer these and many other questions truthfully and immediately, or his judgment and character will continue to be questioned.

  19. Good news but too early in the game. There’s a very good probability that there will be a big turnout doe the dems. ACorn is already signing up criminals and homeless people. Remember MO. and Chicago politics.

  20. 20. RE

Bajema: People keep forgetting he’s half white.

No, in going to Chicago politics, joining the Trinity Church and voluntarily swearing allegiance to ‘Black Liberation Theology’ he identified himself exclusively with ‘black’ and hostile to traditional; American values. He’s a blame America first leftist in total obfuscation mode now – a loser.

If there’s any racism in any of this it’s with Obama himself and the Democrat party.

Can you imagine the ads if he chooses Kaine from Virginia as his VP? The Rookies. The Political JV.lol

It is quite obvious to anyone currently suspending logic and rational thought. If you don’t vote for Obama it HAS to be because you are racist. It could never be that you disagree with the policies and beliefs of the man. We all want the state to run our lives, tell us what we can and can’t say, what our profession will be, where we can work. When we can work. How many kids we can have. What type of cars. How long we can have our lights on, after all once Pelosi and Pickens ram their idea up the collective arse of America, be prepared for “Go without Electricity Day.”
No, couldn’t be that you would vote against Obama for philosophical/ideological reasons. Nope. Definitely because you are a racist.

  22. 22. Lorne

Can anyone tell me if the crap heard on MSNBC is as offensive to me as is to you. Does anyone I mean anyone find any credibility in what a nut job like Keith Oberman has to say. Or is this network just playing mind games to try and kep some of the ratings. Sort of like a reality series gone bad.

  23. 23. OLDPUPPYMAX

I guess it would be racist to point out the fact that the only reason the Obamessiah is the dems choice is because of …his race! An inexperienced, unqualified, unaccomplished, ignorant, stuttering, light weight white guy might have had just a little difficulty getting the nod and the 24/7 cheerleading support and personal history protection from the MSM!

  24. 24. upetrovska

It is an interesting point that the media is inflating the role played by the “Paris/Brittany” line of attack. But I think you place too much emphasis on gas prices. You do yourself no credit charging the MSM with simplicity or bias, and then exhibit such “boiled down” simplicity yourself.

  25. 25. Ken Besig

This election is indeed about race, and the extent to which Barack Obama has benefitted from race based educational and financial programs.
Obviously Barack Obama and his wife have benefitted tremendously from Affirmative Action educational programs which required less intellecually from them from their White counterparts. This is obvious from the mind numbing politically correct mantras both he and she routinely spout, like Barack’s “this election isn’t about me it’s about you, the voter.” Or Michelle who had nothing to like about America until now, etc.
The race based financial programs, which gave Barack and his wife throwaway jobs with titles like community organizer also gave them both the funds and the opportunity to launch their successful political campaigns. Indeed, just ask yourself this: If Barack Obama had a medical degree as a heart surgeon, and you knew that Affirmative Action programs were in place where he studied and practiced, would you let a Doctor with Obama’s limited experience operate on YOU?
The Obama’s skin color also gave them a free ride in the media, with the White and as expected, the African American, media pundits using kid gloves on them, while mercilessly hammering first Hillary Clinton, and now John McCain.
The Obama’s and their Democratic Party handlers cannot give up their elitist belief that the great unwashed American public is largely populated by idiots and morons, with memories less than 24 hours long. The amusement park roller coaster ride/Britney Spears concert with the Obama’s was fun to begin with but now that a serious decision is at hand, that is, who will be the most powerful leader of the Free World, the American voter has started to sober up and now realizes just how racially based educational and financial programs have helped a hopelessly unqualified and inexperienced African American to come within a heart beat of the Presidency.

    I agree with Dave II@Aug 21, 2008 – 2:55 am

Libs have rationalized all along that PEOPLE did not reject their socialist platform. Instead, it is the “Swiftboat smear”. It is the “Selected, Not Elected” ruling.

There are always excuses and excuses put on the American voters, too dumb or something, but never their fault.

  27. 27. jdwill

I agree that the gas prices are not enough to explain it. How about fact that once McCain’s campaign started the ‘celebrity attack’, McCain got into the spotlight a bit. Prior, it was very heavy split of overall coverage for Obama.

i am a black man and speak with more authority on this issue than any of you people. I dont consider myself african-american bcuz i am black with a capital b. u people just don’t get it. the black man has awakened and we’s voting the way we must, and the white man in the corner of the room comes up with all sort of exuses why he ain’t voting with the superior candidate like when he says he’s pro abortion or he’s antiiraq but reality is bcuz he’s black and thats it simple as that. then with peoplle like miniter these is just excuses to cloak they Racism like the kkk. ain’t nothing about the mans idea on abortion gay marrage enviroment oil gas fuel nothing bcz this is all the same like mccain. aint the economy aand my mans not gonna bleach his skin white like michael jackson neither. u refer to the whitemans pole and say obama is losing and u prevented us from making our own pole. wiat to see what our pole says for real.

  29. 29. Rubicon

Obama lost me as I began to hear him always say his presidency would “fix America.” We all hear the stories of how American policy has made this wrong or done this wrong & with Obama as president, he would change that.
Change what. Obama & his ilk think everything America is, has been, will be, or could be, is wrong. Our system is wrong. Our economy is wrong. Our justice system is wrong. Our policies are wrong.
Back to reality. America, like every other nation on the planet before, now, and that will ever be, has made mistakes. But to assert that so much of who & what we are was, is, & will be wrong & those wrongs will destroy the planet, is simply, crap!
Obama is a socialist at heart. He wants us all to embrace his utopian view of the world. He wants us all to embrace his vision & those who do not will suffer as a result.
These guys believe in freedom speech, so long as what you have to say “they” agree with or your comments agree with them.
But if you have an opposing point of view or a question about this or that, you get attacked by the machine.
Voting for a black president would not be difficult, “IF” we had a candidate that loved America, wanted a smaller government that collected less taxes & intruded less on our lives.
Obama criticized Supreme Court Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. Obama, who has almost no qualifications for many jobs in government but is running for president, attacked a man with a resume anyone would give their right arm for. Many of Thomas’ rulings have been reviewed & once logic was applied rather than rhetoric, it was discovered he was brilliant.
Talk about Thomas Sowell, or Michael Steele, or Keyes, or a huge number of others. Plus, they love America!
Obama is a loser socialist whose politics is only now being fully discovered. The media hid his proclivities toward socialism or Marxism. Today, that news is getting out & Obama is slipping. He will slip farther as more of his agenda & those behind him are revealed.

  30. 30. tanstaafl

It’s Barack’s history of LINK: Association with the Chicago political machine & other unsavory characters that turns me off.

Plus a certain tendency to preachiness and (barely concealed) arrogance.

Plus a little misconception of the role of government in the lives of individuals.

And about 50 other things, having nothing to do with his half black/half white heritage.

“I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.”

    Dear “Jefferson Crutcher” (Aug 21, 2008 – 9:47 am),

I DO most certainly trust you only forgot to add the “/sarcasm” notation after your misspelled, quasi-illiterate-yet-fully-racist missive.

    Restless natives/nativists?! How simply charming!

As Obama IS half-white, why would he even HAVE TO bleach his skin?

    Hey, Jefferson, you’re a laugh a minute!

I suggest you sober up (or at least learn to check your spelling) a bit before you post here again.

  32. 32. ex-democrat

jefferson – thank you for so vividly illuminating the racist bigot section of obama’s ‘new improved politics’ demographic.

  33. 33. John

    To: Jefferson Crutcher

Spoken like the true racist that I’m sure you are. What would you like to hear? That white people will vote for McCain because he’s white? No,,, we will most likely, (if we haven’t lost sight of what America stands for) vote for a presidential candidate we feel has the best chance of running the country. Remember please, POTUS stands for “President of the United States”, Obama seems to think he’s running for President of the World. His European tour gave me a gagging sensation.

  34. 34. Aaron

Wait a minute. The author is suggesting that blacks who vote for Obama aren’t actually racist, it’s just that they feel a commonality with him and are proud of him. I know the point is nestled between piles of rightwing blather, but c’mon, people. Where’s the scorn and denunciation? This sort of independent thought cannot be tolerated.

  35. 35. rvastar

What we’re seeing is the brilliance of the McCain team turning Obama’s greatest strength – his over-the-top celebrity – against him. The Paris/Britney and “The One” ads have served to puncture the bubble that the MSM has created around Obama, basically giving average voter’s a badly needed pair of sunglasses to filter out the glare of the MSM’s spotlights.

Before, the MSM had prepped the battlefield to the extent that when the average person saw Obama on TV, they weren’t seeing a politician, they were seeing some sort of global celebrity…handsome, fit, surrounded by smiling throngs of adoring, swooning fans. They weren’t paying attention to what he was saying…they were simply watching him talk, which is what the MSM wanted.

Those two brilliant ads have changed all that.

Now when the average person sees Obama on TV, they are aware of the spectacle and that awareness destroys the spell. Now, people are no longer seeing a god amongst men…they’re beginning to see a politician. And they’re beginning to listen to what he’s actually saying, rather than just watching him talk. And what he’s saying is nothing impressive, as it’s either 1) classic big-govt, big-tax socialism or 2) an ever-evolving, meandering series of flip-flops.

The real beauty of it all is that it may also severly weaken the power of his money advantage.

Basically, the MSM have done everything in their power to make this guy a celebrity since the 2004 Dem convention, and they’ve succeeded. The problem with that is that old saying of “The only thing the public loves more than watching a man rise is watching him fall.”

With the bubble punctured, people may very well begin to think about how much this guy has been relentlessly pushed on them for the past year. If that happens, any ads that runs with all that money will start to actually work against him, as everytime another one airs, voters start saying to themselves “This guy again, yapping about ‘Hope’ and ‘Change’?”

Man, I’m just praying that something in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge scandal serves to nail him solidly to unrepentent Marxist terrorist William Ayers. As the saying goes, “Three strikes and you’re out!”: the MSM have put up virtual force fields around him as regards Rezko and with Wright, but no amount of spinning will be able to save him if he can be definitively tied to Ayers. His campaign will absolutely implode: blue-collar Dems and independents will drop him like a wet towel, leaving him majority support only amongst blacks and latte liberals. He’ll lose to McCain 60-40%.

PS – Jefferson Crutcher has got to be some sort of satire. Something that comically pathetic, ignorant, and ridiculous can’t be real.

  36. 36. BackwardsBoy

I personally don’t care if a candidate’s skin is purple with orange polka-dots. If his views on the issues do not reflect mine, he won’t get my vote.

Darn, “Jefferson,” this is a pretty flimsy attempt at a hoax. What possessed you to think that pretending to be a black man (and a semi-literate one, at that) would be an effective ploy to get your point accross?

Or maybe I’m the one who’s dense? This is satire, right? Like the “New Yorker” cover? Did you put on a hippity-hop hat and a bunch of bling before launching into your faux-black diatribe?

  43. 43. Jessica

That’s pretty sad and says a lot about a person’s intelligence when he or she votes for a candidate simply because of his race. I’m an Asian-American, but I’m not going to vote for an Asian-American if I don’t agree with his or her positions. I can still be proud of that Asian-American for whatever accomplishments he’s attained considering he or she is a minority in America, but if I don’t feel that he or she is the most qualified candidate and/or he or she has extreme stances one way or the other, then I’m not going to vote for this person, and that’s the bottom-line for me. It appears rational, independent-thinking is lacking in those blacks who will be voting for Obama simply because he is black. It’s also unfortunate that there are Caucasians who are voting for Obama because they feel “it is time” that we have a black person in the White House, as if feeling guilty for what’s happened the past 200+ years is the right reason for choosing a president.

  44. 44. Tom

jefferson-we all know white, black, red and yellow people who display their ignorance as some sort of badge of honor – welcome to the club

Tripe is one of the most disgusting foods. I didn’t know Obama liked it, but I heard that in his native Kenya they eat lion’s testicles as a delicacy.

It doesn’t matter what color Jefferson’s skin is or where he is from. He could be glow-in-the-dark magenta-skinned and from Mars or white from somewhere “pastey” and I’d still say he is an illiterate imbecile.

As for Obama, he seems to be tripping all over the place as can be seen from the “poles”.

  46. The Messiah may be worshipped with offerings of tripe, arugula and waffles.

I’m convinced Jefferson Crutcher is a joke. Nobody could really be that stupid.

That explains everything. Having been dead for a hundred years or so, he is using an older version of American English. Having been dead for about a century, he missed the hip hop phase an ebonics. Prolly doesn’t have an I-pod either.
I figured since the election is approaching, the Democrats have dug him up to vote. Sounds pretty much like your average Democrat.

    j green:
Tripe is one of the most disgusting foods. I didn’t know Obama liked it, but I heard that in his native Kenya they eat lion’s testicles as a delicacy

    1. If you think tripe is a disgusting food, then you disagree with fine Spanish, Latin, French and Italian cuisine that features tripe in signature dishes. As well as common favorites like menudo.

    2. And it seems you also hate hot dogs and sausages.

    3. Obama is not a native Kenyan. He is an American-born elitist with a massive ego. Get your slurs straight.

    4. There aren’t enough lion’s balls available in Kenya to eat them as a delicacy except maybe in a rural village or poacher’s camp.
Saying that about Kenyans is as stupid as saying “I heard that Catholics families eat the placentas of new babies in the family in a Papist ritual”.

    =================
The “Jefferson Crutcher” is a sleazy fictional caricature of a white racist who has not spent much time around black people trying to be clever.
Such assholes are easy to spot, but I see other conservative white people that do not have any close black friends or acquaintances constantly suckered by such crude, racist strawmen.

For future reference for conservatives, short of the more effective “get out and learn more about blacks” strategy…..

    1. Look to the goofy names of the white racist caricature. They favor crude comical, colorful ones. “1st name -Jefferson”, “Chitlin-Joe Smith”, Nahquita Thelma Shabazzo” and so on.

    2. Ignorant of blacks, they think that that portion of blacks that speak in “street vernacular” even “ebonics” somehow also write just like they talk. As if a white gal with a thick Southern speech would write “‘Bout time y’all stop here bayh for some cump-niy at a dinnah we be plannin’ to have ’bout fahhve ‘clock” on her party invitations.
he’s antiiraq but reality is bcuz he’s black and thats it simple as that

u refer to the whitemans pole and say obama is losing and u prevented us from making our own pole. wiat to see what our pole says for real.

Which the white racist does knowing many conservatives are unable to spot the phony black guy.

    3. Because the white racist believes that black people are stupid and uneducated, they litter a post from their “Jefferson” or such creation with typos and mispellings and blatant idiot notions – to make the black stawman more “authentic”. Which too many white conservatives also believe.

    4. Typically, the white racist troll also sets the bait by issuing dumb threats against white people through his fake black persona – bait which draws white conservatives ignorant of blacks to it like flies to shit.

Get smarter people…Foah O sicks mah black strawman “Blind Lemon Johnson” to say “I’s gonna rape yoah daughters and burn yoah cribs down iffen you honkeys doahn’t get yoah pasty, inferior KKK asses out to vote foah Obamessiah…”

And sit back as clueless whites attack the clueless, badly drawn black caricature.

Obama hasn’t dropped in the polls because of racism. People are finally realizing that he has had a lot of opportunities but no achievements to show for those opportunities, particularly any that relate to leadership. He is the proverbial “empty suit” although he can read a teleprompter tremendously well. Obama’s finally being vetted by the American citizens–something the Democrats and the MSM should have done months ago.

In my opinion, Obama saying that he’ll fix America has left him in a serious fix with Americans.

That’s because Barack constantly harps on America’s flaws and imperfections, to most Americans, it’s a little like telling Tiger Woods he should use a Pro V1 ball instead of a Nike Black. They’re both about the best.

    It hardly matters.

Then, Tiger talks about the importance of making our nuclear defense shield operational. Now that’s important.

Wait, you say. Hold on one cotton picking minute, somebody yells.

    Obama doesn’t care about that.

Obama cares about the importance of not drilling and the importance of paying Reparations for descendants of slavery.

My mistake. You’re right. The defense shield is McCain’s baby. What’s more, McCain’s the one who spoke about wanting to increase the supply of domestic oil through off shore drilling to bring down the price of gasoline. Good idea, John. Sorry for the mixup.

Say, Obama, instead of fixing America, maybe you should fix the things wrong with your agenda for America? Doesn’t that make more sense?

But folks, (Obama hasn’t listened). He was transfixed by a three way mirror. That brown svelt handome man.

Let’s see, what to do about Russia invading Georgia. Barack: “Well, can’t it wait a week?

I guess it can Barack. “Cause my beautiful Michelle and I are taking off for a Hawaiian week’s vacation”. What could be more important than that?

jefferson “TIMEX” (“takes a licking and keeps on ticking”) crutcher is perhaps a tragic reality, or perhaps a laughable DY-NO-MITE! retread…hard to say.

Is it Live, or is it Samborex?…in any case: entertaining!

Yet, in the event that MAH MAN JEFF is real, a few words:

    1) Mr. C, please tell me, why bad spelling is a “black thang” (“…hollering about my spellings should admit that its bcuz I’m black…”.)?

    2) Also, sir, why do YOU question Sen. Obama’s spelling ability, as I can imagine that, after reading off of so many teleprompters, his spelling must be rather acceptable?

    3) And, one last request, Mr. C: if you would be so kind as to please inform me just WHERE on the floor someone left some tripe, I’ll be glad to pick it up so that no one – including Sen. Obama – will trip on it.

Regards to all in South Carolina…making West Virginia look more intellectual with every post!

“…hollering about my spellings should admit that its bcuz I’m black…”

No sir, it’s because you appear to be a bit stupid.

  54. Thanks be to the troll who livens things up ’round here. Shabbat shalom to all.

    George Clarke:
He got there only because of the anti-Clinton factor.)
    You nailed that one!

Voting for Obama to keep Bill Clintoon from ever sleeping/snooping in the White House is the greatest vote I have ever cast. Why Hillary didn’t divorce him is beyond me?
    But-
After finding out Obama snubbed American wounded troop and wants me to pay higher oil prices. I think, what a liberal Moron!
I will never vote for him twice.

McCain pisses me off, but at least he is not trying to piss on me.

I guess Jefferson doesn’t fit the bill of the smart, articulate African-American that potential VP-candidate Joe Biden spoke of.

Using race as a shield is nothing more than a cheap excuse. I come from a black father and a white mother and race has nothing to do in this election. it’s a factor but not the desicive factor. the main factor here is the fact that Barrack Obama never lets you see what he stand for. If Obama would had served in the military or some executive from a big company we would know where he stands on things. But he came out of nowhere and now that people are getting to know him they don’t like what they are seeing. We know where McCain is on issues, we know where he stand and most importantly we know that he has and will defend this country from enemies abroad and in here. Obama on the other hand, has a questionable list of “friends”. Hater preachers, unrepentant terrorist now working on college (scary stuff), you really have to wonder what’s he’s thinking.

Well, it’s a gimme that nobody who’s very smart and very well informed about what’s been going on in this country and the world at large the past several years is going to vote for another Republican as president. Unfortunately for Obama, this represents a very small demographic. The vast bulk of potential voters, thanks to an ever increasingly timid, lazy, corporate MSM and a hyperbiased blogosphere, are very hazy and confused about what’s what. As demonstrated by the comments here, you end up with regurgitated nonsense that amounts to no more than substituting random idiotic bits and phrases from their favorite not-quite-news outlet or blog for real opinion and thinking.

As H.L. Mencken once wrote: “No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.”

(The last bit kind of explains why Bush is still around.)

I didn’t say I can’t spell–i just didn’t proofread. But you guys think I’m black bcuz I didn’t proofread. I coulda bin white and not proofread you know. Too many sumptions about Barrock also.

Of course you leave out a couple of things when you discuss the race issue. For example numerous Republican Congressmen have praised Obama’s leadership in the Senate and a couple have said there is no doubt about his ability to handle the Presidency. Richard Lugar has talked about his leadership on the issue of nuclear arms proliferation. None of this gets attention. But when John Edwards ran for President with a lot less experience than Obama, no one questioned his readiness to handle the office. When Ronald Reagan ran for President in 1968, no one questioned his experience and in fact several of John McCain’s staffers brag about that being the campaign that got them interested in politics. Barack Obama had more of a background than Reagan did. So why does the issue come up? Judge for yourself.
