The British government spends more money of Islam than Christianity, according to a new Church of England report.

The report also charges of the governing class with being “religiously illiterate.”

All true, but the Church of England bishops have no one to blame but themselves. For years, they adopted trendy lefty causes–alienating the Conservatives who might otherwise be sympathetic. Meanwhile, the Labour and Liberal-Democratic parties were led by atheists or agnostics who consider the church to be a somewhat embarrassing anachronism. The more the church tried to adopt the fashionable leftwing causes, the more it looked like the uninvited partygoer desperate to get it. So no party has an interest in listening to them.

Imagine if the church had stuck to the gospels and performing the charitable works the gospels inspire, such as hospitals and homeless shelters. They would have a valuable social expertise to share and neutral political reputation. Then everyone would have an interest in listening.

As for increased funding to Muslim outfits, well, of course. There are consequences to ignoring them–unlike the C of E.
