Yes I too was taught in school that Locke’s writ
was against the divine right of kings. And you can see the how similiar the wording looks to be Between the various documents you cited.

Still its reasonable to ask why- Locke’s words found such such ready ears in the Presbyters of of North Carolina. Why? Because in the very least Locke’s words could not have been given a hearing if they had fallen outside the zone of religious conviction held by the carolina presbyters.

So here is a piece on John Calvin vs. John Locke on Natural Law or Reason.

The piece just puts their words side by side. They don’t look contradictory to me. But the writing is very dry. So I may have missed something.
