Contrast,

Biden in his 50 minutes of air, declared in as few words as possible, “Okay I accept the nomination” and then went on to praise his mom and dad and his kids too. Well done.

But it seems the lessons of his youth did not stick, were not applied by the Senator even early in his Senatorial career. The notion that if you get knocked down, you get up again, the idea that you better bloody the other guys nose and not give up, so you could walk down the street the next day with your head up, having earned some measure of respect but mainly that winning is okay losing is expected but giving up is never an option. That lesson is somehow was not applicable to our efforts (and those of our troops in 1974) and is not to be applied in the GWOT.

It is a contradiction of character and moral compass that struck me, listening to Joe Biden speak.

It is a contrast of character and moral compass that is evidenced by action on the record, action that includes tax cuts, ethics reform and saying no to pork. She and her family are living the dream, really, even with the risks of being a fisherman and challenges of a down syndrome child. God bless them, that child will be a handful but that child will mean so much to that family and can teach so much about love and more about character.

The contrast with Nancy Pelosi could not be greater, especially after the rebukes of Catholic Bishops, and the silence from other leaders of the Democrat party who claim to practice one faith, believe something else.

If the GOP Congressional and GOP Senatorial committees could make a statement of being willing to following the example of the presumptive VP, and somehow displaying that change is in fact real…, who knows what might happen in November.

My distaste for McCain involves his drafted legislative efforts, all touched by Democrat hands, include McCain-Feingold, and Comprehensive Immigration Immigration Reform. It is in Congress and in the Senate that real change has got to happen, We need a Republican Speaker in the house, Senate Majority leadership would be nice but it is not necessary. All the troubles with legislation and all the troubles with judicial vacancies can be laid at the feet of the democrat legislators.

How is McCain going to respond to a majority Democrat legislature? It is a huge question.
