Teresita – “the stench of phoniness like we got from Michelle Obama when she traded in her Maoist Falange army green fatigues for a pastel green dress.” – Realize you MEAN to go over the top- but still not worthy of you. Mock Michelle’s “sense of self” – Mock her (relatively) mundane way of underscoring what makes her Man matter. But it’s pretty pathetic to pretend she’s less “authentic” than Palin. Unless being black somehow makes you less real. Which is precisely the sort of notion that required Michelle/Dems to suggest O should get props for being…an anxious dad when he brought his first baby home from the hospital…If intelligent folks like you weren’t at the mercy of the sort of nonsense re “authenticity” that’s been promoted here (and by Johnny Mac) – the Dems wouldn’t have had to underscore the Obamas don’t hang upside down when they go to bed at night. Michelle is a self-made black professional woman with exceptional looks/poise – Yup – she benefited from Affirm action. And does it look to you like she’s dumber than W. who rolled by on a legacy admission? Not a Maoist bone in her body. (The tiny vogue for Maoism on American campuses was a decade before her time…and never took at Princeton anyway.)

Just watched Palin’s acceptance speech. Sounds like a nice woman. Not a Dan Q. but not exactly easy on this stage either. Her relative inexperience seemed very apparent. (She’s certainly not an orator.) Given Mac’s age and questions about his health – this seems like a less than morally serious pick. BTW – always thought Biden was a second-rater. When C-4 joked about his (non)”gravitas” a couple threads back, I nodded my head. But – on the basis of Ms. Palin’s first performance – I’d say Biden seems way more worldly and ready to be pres in case of a disaster than Ms. Palin. Maybe she’ll turn it around, maybe she’ll grow in the gig. But – compare her to, say, that first term Montana gov, Brian S., who got his 10 minnutes at the Dem Covention and got the house rocking. As he showed, you don’t have to come across as a conventional pol – but I doubt it will do in a national campaign if you sound like you’re an intelligent neighbor running for the local school board. BTW – The (ALL BOY) chours of “USA” cheers at the Rally were straight out of 70′s Young Repub playbook – Talk about inauthentic… HAve to say this feels like a desperate choice… Not a confident one.
