Palin and McCain can make hay with their storyline of being the anti-Republican Republicans. Which is to say, getting back to fiscally responsible Republicans with a tough foreign policy, not the disgraceful whores that have polluted the Republican party these past eight years. McCain’s bona fides on fiscal responsibility are rock solid (one area of his Maverick-hood I agree with).

Andrew Sullivan’s little love-fest (thank you Benj, sort of) is laughably rediculous and not worth the bother of responding. As the saying goes, it’s not right. It’s not even wrong. It’s an opium dreamscape.

And I’m not sure, but I think Benj is making the argument that BHO is NOT “too removed from everyday people”? What? There is no one iota of his background that has anything to do with “regular people,” unless Hyde Park millionaire Leftists fit your idea of “regular.”

And Benj closes with classic Benj. Obama has an imagination that takes him out of his self… – a speech ‘full of people other than the candidate” – people evoked not as stand-ins for issues but as the End.

Benj and that Obama “imagination.” Yes, O’s imagination does take him out of himself, right up to the Left Hand of God, in fact. Other people are merely the bureaucratic fodder for Obama to burn on his way to power.
