Have we so devolved as a society that “identity politics” has become decisive?

Not sure why this is considered devolving.
Idenity politics has ALWAYS been decisive. Once in a blue moon a politician come along that wants to do an issues onlt election. After the election he returns to what ever LaLa land he came from.
There is this guy named Zaller. Google him and get his book if you are really interested in politics. I think Zaller politics are on the way out. The WWW has changed the playing field. If the MSM can co-opt bloggers, then Zaller politics will still rule, Blogs becoming just another tool for the gatekeepers to control the data.
People voted for George Washington because he was a war hero , father of the country, etc. NOT because of his position on public horse troughs.
Do you really think any of the Obamanics will vote for Ohhhh…..BAAMA because of his position on anything? What IS his position on anything? See?
No, White Males has dominated politics in America pretty much since day one. This is the 21st century and it is a matter of national interest that the grip of old white men be loosened. It is fitting that the Republican party do that. Republicans ended slavery and started the long journey to universal sufferage. Why not finish that journey? McCain will be a 1 term President, IF he lives thru this term. Age and unreal stress levels will make his VP the natural choice for the ’12 Republican candidate. Palin will make one ‘ell of a president.
Pro Choice, Pro guns, anti-corruption and not bad looking either. The sort of girl everybody wants their daughter to be.
Obama bin Biden is toast.

“I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection. Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God’s business.”
Michael J. Fox, quoted by Lorne A. Adrain in ‘The Most Important Thing I Know’
US (Canadian-born) actor (1961 – )

BTW, as far as experience goes, Palin has the most executive experience of the 4 candidates. McCain is second.
Exceutives make decisions. Senators don’t. Senators vote on other people’s decisions.

They still there? 21 days now.
