Wrichard writes:

“The major parties and the press are large components of the quality control process of the political system. They are supposed to weed out the obviously inept, mentally distrubed, or treasonable candidates before they get too far . . . .”

But Programmer writes:

“The narrative will warp time, space and people to bend reality to fit, the narrative will not bend for anything or any one.”

Rational inquiry is good. But people are also narrative creatures. And furthermore, the golden rule generally prevails: whoever has the gold makes the rules.

The confidence man/parasite/politician always knows how to tell a good story. And the news/tabloid industry is always looking for the good narratives to sell the celebrity hungry/narrative-needing public. And the big money/owners of the media decide in part what meme they get to present.

If Palin knows how to fight, and how to change the meme to “it’s always the same old boys club,” McCain could have a new meme to complement the Maverick meme. We’ll know in a few hours.

Sen. Obama’s speech? Cotton candy spun on a crooked cone of misinformation.
