Really all you need to know about the Annenberg Challenge is look at the current Chicago schools. Any better? No Then the guys doing this were failures. Simple.
I remember all they hype back then and then nothing. That told me all I needed to know. If successful it would have begotten more and it did not.
As to a VP Pawlenty is unknown and green. McCain is 72 years old. I want a possible president, not an affirmative action woman or guy.
Condi Rice is a failure at State; she got rolled by Hezbolla believing their propaganda during the last conflict with Israel. If she can’t see through the illusion then I would not trust her as President. Plus she never had the executive skills to clean the Clintonistas and Carterites at State.
Lastly she does not want to be President. If Carly wants to be VP, she needs start to learn the craft by getting elected at a lower level first. Hutchison is good and I like her but we do not need to get more Senators to be elected. We need as many GOP senators that we have. The best training is being Governor, since they have to learn to be an executive. After all the White House is the Executive branch of government.
McCain has not exhibited good executive skills and that is one of his major faults. But I have no choice with Obama as the alternative. So as VP, I want a seasoned person because if you thought the Democrats were vicious the last two years, that is nothing if their ONE does not win. The Democrats will be worse than ever and McCain is not capable of fighting Democrats. Too many years of Senatorial Courtesy has infected him and that courtesy will not follow him to the White House.
That leaves Romney. Romney is smart, has oodles of executive skill and can fight. He really understands in his bones about the necessity of private markets in a way that McCain does not. McCain supports markets but he is a government guy that is all he has known his adult life, so he can be swayed to a government solution. The best of McCain is that he is Laissaz Faire toward economics. McCain does not really understand the BOR or he would never have done McCain Feingold, which restricts the first amendment. He agreement with the “so called gun show loophole” means he does not understand that that is a device to remove the ability of private transactions of guns to only Authorized Federal dealers. The ability to get guns privately is one of the safeguards against tyranny by the state. Criminals who get guns are one of the costs of liberty. That has to be accepted. Go after criminals in other ways. CCW people have been doing a good job cutting down their numbers. Stand My Ground laws have enable citizens to fight back at crime at the actual point of crime. That is more effective then any good police work, when the people stop crime when it happens.
Romney does not really understand that now, but is willing to be convinced on gun issues. Romney understands foreign policy since he is an extremely smart man and a policy wonk. He devours information. Also Romney is a man of decent character he is not a person to abuse his power and that attribute is important in any person that could be President.
