Obama is the diversity candidate, which means in practice punishing white guys. Who are, frankly, sick of it.

And … blue collar Whites make up the largest demographic slice of the electorate, at 25%. More than gays, Blacks, even Latinos, or single mothers.

Wretchard — I am less than impressed by Obama. He has done little to demonstrate he knows how to win nationally. Heck he’s never run against any Republican opposition. He’s South Side Chicago meets Red Diaper babies. A tin ear for what the white majority of this country wants. Which is safety and stability, not fads.

Apple is all over the place in ads. They sell about 4-6% of the computers sold. Obama’s polling support is of all voters, not likely voters (who are registered, and voted last election).

Youth vote at 50%, or less, while Seniors vote 75% or more.

Thinking you need the “cool, sexy” pick of a woman, or a non-white, or a Lesbian, or what have you is dumb, dumb, dumb politics. Whites make up the OVERWHELMING majority of the population, still. To the regret of the media. Blacks are 13% of the population. Identity politics begets identity politics, which ALL break in McCain’s favor.

Pick a straight white guy, win. It’s that simple.

Playing diversity politics is playing the hype and buzz game. Consider this — the most buzz-hype show in recent memory is “Gossip Girl” on CW. Pulling in 2 million viewers a show. The lowest rated EVER renewed show. The whole CW network may be cancelled.

Reality check: there are more White Guys than Black Guys by a factor of 4. Regardless of what you see on TV commercials. And no, almost all whites don’t know any Blacks, care one way or the other, and don’t crave an imaginary hip black friend to make them cool.
