Journalists looking into this part of Obama’s life have interviewed people who were involved in the events. I’m curious whether anyone has interviewed Ayers critically and whether he answered such questions.
It is true that no journalist has taken on the task of studying 70 linear feet of files. Study of that kind usually is done by historians at a leasurely pace.
Until just a few weeks ago, it was not certain that Obama would win the Democratic nomination. Any journalist who might have decided, say, six months ago to study 70 linear feet of files in order to write an article certainly would have been taking an enormous professional risk. He might have finished reading through, say, 50 feet of files, and then it might have turned out that Hillary Clinton was the nomination. Then where would such a journalist have sold his article?
