What exactly would Gov. Pawlenty bring to Sen. McCain’s ticket? I mean no insult to the Minnesota governor, who may be a fine man in his own right.

And what is wrong with a “white male?” Have we so devolved as a society that “identity politics” has become decisive? In other words, people voting for Obama because he’s black, or Hillary Clinton because of her sex are strongly indicating that our people are unable to make decisions based upon the issues, voting records, and character of political candidates. This does not portend well for us. It seems to confirm one suspicion that logically follows from the “identity politics” aspect: we have been shattered into social fragments where petty resentments form the basis of political decisions. How tragic for our Republic.

Tactically, however, I would select a qualified female as my running mate. For the simple reason that such an expediency is a minor thing in comparison with the great harm that would be done to the nation should Obama and the Democrats take it all in November. It may surely cost humanity millions of lives, perhaps some of that ghastly toll American lives as well.
