Obama is slick in that when he wants to reassure the Hard and Soft Left he does not do it by making speeches intended for the general public. He goes right to their gatherings and uses the coded socialist catch phrases that they understand the meanings of. He can’t do this with a wider audience. It would blow his cover.

So, what you have is, as Wretchard described it a few threads ago, someone who is a true Leninist: a deceiver. The Middle Muddle of America is never going to see the true Obama until after he’s administered the oath of office in January. By then it’s too late.

But, it’s frustrating for those of us who know the code talk of the Left. We try to tell people who he is and what he’s about and not enough believe us.
