I’m reading a book about Guadalcanal. One of the big mistakes the Japanese made was to decide that it was not important. And any way the Americans were not expected to be able to mount an offensive until 1943. And objectively the Japanese were right. And yet for a people imbued with the power of will they discounted the will of the Americans.
I think the Obama folks made the same mistake. They discounted the opposition and its will.
