The deep terror here is that what if Michael Jackson is a metaphor for western civilization in general and the USA in particular. Metaphor may not be the right word. Foreshadowing may be the better word.

When you’re in the presence of a miracle you need to be afraid of God. Very afraid. Why? Because it took a miracle to enable things to continue as they are–as they have been. That means two things.

God is merciful.(He has spared you this time)

God is just. (He will not spare you forever if you don’t change your ways.)
