“Why do thousands of people gather in the hot sun to look at the side of the UCLA Medical Center? Why do the “news” networks cover these people?”

I couldn´t agree more with this statement. While any untimely death is a tragedy we all should refocus our collective attention away from this celebrity madness and onto more important world situations (for example Iran). Could it be that our culture is so “illiterate” in the larger aspects of world events that the only galvanizing events are the most superficial? We need to understand that the art of singing and dancing is just that, singing and dancing, and that some do it better than others and that our media rich culture has blown this phenomenon way out of porportion at the expense of more worthy and pressing events.
