We’re all living in the box. In the immortal words of Hunter S. Thompson, “kill the head and the body dies.” If there is any chance of doing an “easy” strike on Iran, the effort should be precision bombing on the homes of the ruling mullahs and their toadies. No ground invasion–no bombing of anything that doesn’t belong to the military or the ruling elite.
Its easy to give the order to fight to the death when you are not one of the people who are really going to have to do it. The people who are most likely to give such orders are, for the most part, the people who would be most terrified and incapable of obeying them if that order had been given to them. Consider Suddam Hussein, who was hiding in his hole, and who meekly surrendered. Once THEIR lives are threatened, they tend to turn into good little sheep.
No, just have a sudden air strike that just takes out the homes of the governmental elite. Then set up something on the Internet for the Iranians. Who would you most like to have killed next of the government survivors, why, and where are they hiding? Financial rewards would go toward those who give valid information about where these human targets are so that the precision bombings produce the appropriate corpses. Let them vote on the website who they want to die next, and then target those people. If results occur, the regime will crumble.
An odd way to conduct a war perhaps, but maybe one whose time has come.
