The new dollar coins look –and feel, even –like chocolate patties with gold foil wrap. They could hardly look any cheaper or be any less serious. Almost no relief indent, and, i guess to make sure we ‘get it’ they made ‘em gold colored. As in, “we want you to think of the dollar as gaudy dishonest junk”. Or maybe the design team just felt that way and it came out as truth will. Whovever it is that guided this project, i’d give long odds is from among the ‘level playing field’ people.
