There was a time not so long ago (my youth~40yrs ago)when police were as interested in prevention as enforcement. From my perspective it was the litigious lawyering that put an end to that. Now they show up to pick up the pieces. I’m sure that is similar to how things were in the old west. But at some point ‘the people’ had enough and contracted a Marshal to do whatever was necessary to provide peace. (see the movie Appoloosa) Those days will come again. Bet on it.
