It sure looks like Russia is playing for keeps.
As anticipated, Russia has mobilized its Black Sea fleet, to in all likelihood land ground troops on Georgia’s western flank. And Russian jets have been bombing the Kadori Gorge in Abkhazia, which means this thing has evolved past the narrow concern of South Ossetia.
Also, reports indicate that Russia has attacked the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline with bunker-busting bombs. That’s a strategic move.
Right now I think the smart money is that Russia’s primary objective is “regime change.” At first I thought this might be Israel goes to Lebanon; however, now it’s starting to look like America goes to Baghdad.
