I work as a researcher in several areas supported by the DOD. It is a very bad idea to underestimate Russia’s military potential if the ruling KGBnicks are humiliated. Russia has enough wealth now that they can beef up their military with a paid professional officer and noncom corp while cutting the size of the land army. They have sufficient in house technical expertise to integrate weapon systems that they can purchase.
I know that the KGB likes to steal rather than buy but they do have the option of making joint ventures if they want to.
Also our gizmos do not always work unlike the stuff in the Clancy novels. So those of you who are IT workers remember that MS came out with Vista. Well maybe Gates is really a KGB spy.
