We should’ve listened to Patton. After all, the Russians had already by then finished making their one contribution to humanity –well, their one good contribution, bad ones are damn sure plentiful –a few good writers a hundred years ago. Oh yes, and the world’s ugliest building, that onion domed multi colored monstrosity squatting in the middle of Moscow, the city of deliberate demoralization, the city too tragic (because of those 12th century Mongol invasions y’know) to sober up long enough to mow the grass, do a little housecleaning, note that a manna-from-heaven natural resource gift doesn’t have to be weaponized against the neighbors, and bother to care whether or not an oblivious serfdom happily in thrall to a dictator-led gang of national socialist assassins is a good, or normal, thing to be.
