“A little over a century ago, a similar coalition overthrew Tammany Hall in New York City. One key member of the coalition was a Republican who was named as police commissioner. His name was Theodore Roosevelt.”

Another was a fellow named TH Nast. originator of the modern vision of Santa Claus, the GOP Elephant and a stubborn donkey to represent the Dems. Through his simple depictions of what was going on the whole of the country knew what Tammany was and that it was not a good thing. Of course that was for Harpers newspaper, not the Gray lady and editorially the harpers staff then had mucho grande cojones, and the paper had a large circulation. The tribune couldn’t even get the real story about the certain real estate deals. choosing to believe that one time Resko made a straight deal was with then state Senator Obama.
The difference between a bank robber and this crop of Politicians is that bank robbers engage in a higher, more respectable level of criminal activity. What A. Specter did does not surprise me. That he let someone else get there first does puzzle me though.

I expect that not all the pubs and dems are crooks, and we will know soon enough who else is and who is not.
