Let’s make a deal

Slightly OT, but the events of last night have caused such anguish I had to get this off my chest.

The spectre of death lay before them
The Democrat bill breathed its last
The GOP, let us adore them
Had vowed it would never be passed
Then happened expected behavior
A few GOPs joined their hands
And danced as the Democrats savior
Accompanied by tootling bands
The oompahs played Hail Pennsylvania
Accordions played Lady of Maine
Cheering Dems joined in the mania
With mostly Olympian disdain
The spectre of death had been banished
Replaced by the Specter of old
The GOP win quickly vanished
The vict’ry thrown out in Maine’s cold
So now we are stuck with Obama’s
Bloated old pork spending bill
That even your dads and yo mommas
Would recognize as stinking swill
What can we do with such people
Always on the other side
Why can’t they be swung from a steeple
Or staked to a beach at low tide
Of course that is frustration seething
Of course we’d do naught of the kind
But as long as there’s patriots breathing
I think we should keep it in mind

Confession: Arlen Specter is my Senator, and I voted for him, not because I agreed with him, I often didn’t, but because the alternative was a liberal Dem. But I’m through with him now, not that he cares.
