There is always the possibility that the Dana Priest article in the WaPa was structured political “PsyOps”, or intentional political mis-information, designed and aimed at the majority of the WaPo readers (not the typical Belmont Club wingnut like me and you), meant to re-assure the Obama political base that “all is well”. The Eviiiil Boosh is gone and so is his “illegal” War on Terror. Yeah, right.

I grew up in the ’60′s, and there was always ready articles in various magazines about how we were “winning” in Viet Nam. These were especially prevalent when LBJ was president, but some continued after Nixon became President. That was political dis-information, too. During that time, the situation might have been getting better for us in Viet Nam, but the true story is always more complicated than that.

Few things will really change in policy for a year or two. The incoming Obama administration frankly doesn’t know enough (factual knowledge, not implying stupidity) to radically change much in the way of policy in the “Terror War”. They are just going to re-brand it and market it differently; Axelrod and Co. know how to do that real well.
