Spengler’s article is an extraordinary reach into the soup of social metaphysics. For all the diversity we are blessed with it seems that only beans, rice, and chicken are going to survive. There must be no nutritional value to he spice, the salt, and of course the water.

Just take the case he makes about Israel. The tiny nation struggling to maintain its difference. It has been my impression that Israel is to act as light to the world to show others a way to sanctify themselves so as to be worthy. It appears that the prophet benefited from that idea. Israel does not desire to be alone by itself.

Surely ideas change over time. Those who ignore new discoveries are just as at risk as those who forget old knowledge. The notion that civilizations fail due a collective mental menopause is as plausible as some of the science underpinning global warming.

And someone should have told John Lennon “to love the one your with” rather than bemoaning the inability to fulfill a dream. Dreams are just dreams and so are some ideas.
