Barack Obama is going to be the next president of the United States. …he and his campaign are the result of the years of teaching our children that, in America, anyone can be president…

With respect, programmer, sometimes the internalized message doesn’t play out the way we’re told — my parents taught me I could be anything I wanted, also, so I became an asshole.

Some other things the MSM has told me were going to happen in the last 10 years –

1. Y2K would cause catastrophe
2. Bird Virus would kill billions
3. SAR would kill billions
4. If we invaded Iraq, the Arab Street would rise up and we’d have WWIII.
5. We’d have 10,000 casualties before we reached Baghdad and once we entered the city it would be like Mogadishu Blackhawk-Down squared.
6. The year after Katrina (which destroyed my Dad’s home) would spawn 9 category 5 hurricanes — in reality, zip.
7. Iraq in 2007 was a lost cause. The Surge wouldn’t work.
8. Hillary Clinton was the shoo-in Dem nominee.
9. And so on, and so on.

As wretchard points out, it’s astonishing Obama isn’t far ahead at this point. And it’s only going to get worse as the public starts paying attention. His arrogance comes across so thick these days you can slice it with a knife, undercutting his supposed “likeability.” His policies on offshore drilling and Iraq look fake. The Reverend Wright-Ayers-Dorn-Alinsky stuff is going to raise its ugly head again, but in more focused form, along with who knows what in this guy’s sordid left-wing past.

We’ve taught our children to believe in good values, yes, and one of those is honesty. One of the most derogatory words I hear from young people these days is “pseudo” (which they pronounce “swaydo” to be cool), meaning phony. Obama is turning out to be the ultimate pseudo politician. By November 2008, he’s going to look very, very small.
