I used to lunch regularly with Richard Vetter, and it was always a treat to hear his take on the latest absurdities of the university where he taught economics. They tolerated his quirkiness because he was good, and sought after by state and national legislators as a resource, but I think they resented his generally dim view of the social science faculty. I am encouraged to hear we might be half-way through this period of idiocy, but fear we are not. Thanks for the observations, Wretchard. F
