There is no such thing as “higher” or “lower” evolution. Evolution by natural selection has nothing to do with “respect”, “trust”, “integrity” or “compassion”. Those are irrelevant emotions. The evolution of life over the past 3.5 billion years has been one long arms race. No department of peace is going to change the fact that humans are just animals. There will always be violence. Most of the animal kingdom itself cannot survive without violence, after all, most animals must attack, then consume other organisms (plants, fungi, protists, other animals, bacteria etc.).

These things not only deny the fact that humans are animals and are just as subject to the rules of the Serengeti as the zebra and the lion, they deny the technological trends of the twenty-first century. There can be no “Arms Control and Disarmament” in an age of desktop fabricators and personal homemade Bio/nanite WMD’s.
