The State Vs the State of Nature

I really don’t understand. What 8 year old child is allowed to make ANY kind of decision regarding a medical procedure? Would you ask his opinion regarding a tonsillectomy? No. So the decision is being made by the “parents”. Why are parents allowed to make a decision regarding sexual orientation before the child has gone through puberty? Surely if the “parents” took their son to a surgeon and asked him to amputate a leg because their son thought of himself as one-legged, the surgeon would refuse. And if he did not, how would the state view his decision to go through with the procedure? No, this makes no sense at all. If the kid decides when he’s 18 that he wants to undergo a sex-change procedure, that’s a different issue. But no child under the age of consent should be allowed to make that decision, especially with the parents this kid has. F
