A few years back there was a book about an actual incident where a very young boy who involuntarily became a little girl.

It was the result of – steel yourself, men – a botched circumcism operation where they took off a bit too much. Then, after consulting with his parents decided that they had screwed up so bad they would just turn the failed original operation into a sex change.

So the kid was raised as a girl, until somewhere around 16 years old he decided “I am no such thing!” For some inexplicable reason he then did not go looking for the original doctor with a shotgun, which would also have made a better book. And I have no idea how he could recover at that point other than maybe a subscription to Playboy.

Dr Laura’s radio show used to often start with a segment on Defining Deviancy Down. One example given was where some psychologist was saying that sexual relations between a child and an adult was actually good for the kid. Sounds like another way to improve the sales of shotguns.
