To Joshua Scholar @ 199
“2) Obama was actually elected. So the birther trend is an attempt usurp the voice of the American electorate. It is inherently elitist.”
Slavery was also a “voice of the American Electorate”. Lincoln only drew 39.8% of the vote in 1860, more of the electorate voted against Lincoln. Was it elitist of Lincoln to ban it?
To be sure the demand for Obama’s history, for proof of his eligibility under the Constitution arose only out the unique history he has. That known history does draw his eligibility into question, certainly an honest appreciation for the meaning of Natural Born Citizen would allow that Obama may indeed not meet that requirement. Demanding one’s place in the law is not the cry of the elitist. Demanding a SPECIAL PLACE in the law, IS THE MARK OF THE ELITIST.
And that special place in law is being granted Obama. He is being handled as a elite by the elite. The very words of the Hawaiian officials explaining this release say that.
Dear Joshua Scholar, if you are so anxious to use the word “elitist” as some mocking term, then apply it where it is deserved, not where it is not. We birthers has been treated worse than Dred Scott was in terms of not being allowed a full hearing in court for our complaints. We are made the lowest, the most debased and refused, under the actual process of law in this matter. The opposite of elite.
Elitism? Look to Obama and those who ever excuse and defend him.
