Despite everything, the German Army, whatever they call it today, is as professional as it gets. As it has been for the last few thousand years. While there are no more Ritters or Junkers by name, it still lives on in the heart.
The hard bloody core of the Roman Imperial Legions were Germanic tribesmen earning the franchise. The Franks that ruled Europe under Charles the great were Germanic. That is because Germany as we know it today didn’t exist.
Any way, you won’t find American troops laughing at the Krauts like they do at the French and Brits. The German politicians, yes.
Merkel is something else. I’ll bet she called in her Professional military advisors and asked them what they think.
I’m sure they told her Libya was a disaster looking for a place and time to happen.
It is what it is. The German high command is less delusional then even the US high command. Germany could be a military power in a month or so. Thousands of years of history doesn’t disappear in a generation or three. The results of a re-militarised Germany would not be any different this time then the last two times.
There would be an immediate arms build up. Russia is already re-arming. That would go into overdrive. France would freak-out. As would the English.
The high command pointed out where all this would lead and Merkel said ‘EWH! Not on my watch’.
Merkel is the only one in this circle jerk that has the brains to pour water out of a boot without reading the directions on the heel.
