Wouldn’t it be easier to check unwelcome executive power with the other two branches of government? Are there no stalwarts in Congress who’d stare down the worst “A President Obama would” scenario? If there are none now, will there be none for the 2010 political consensus? If violence is the only political instrument we’ve left, the Republic is lost, its truths now mired in various romantic memories.

I don’t want a part in anyone’s political revolution. If I see you or your ilk fomenting one, I’ll call the cops, and that’s a promise. I’ve little faith that the revolutionary’s playful exercise of violence would end well for me or those I love.
