If they are making a big issue out of our being there either 1. it is a real threat and they fear our getting linked to the locals and monitoring comms, and eventually running operations over the border. In other words maybe very high value targets are nearby. Or choice 2 is it is a sucker punch to get us to reinforce a trap.
