Wretchard,

I’m waiting for Sara Palin or some other Republican notable politician like Senator Cornyn (R-TX) to show up to the September 11th Ground Zero protests against the Muslim Victory Mosque, and propose a “Ground Zero Historic Battlefield” initiative that would Federalize and take over zoning of Ground Zero from NY City government, then rezone the Cordoba initiative out of existance.

This is possible because the enabling legislation for a National Historic Battlefields can designated with varying zones of influence and of specified effects, one of which could include “offense to the survivors.”

Religious facilities, for example, could be put in the same “zone of effect” category of relative undesirability as a porn store, with previously existing religious facilities being grandfathered in, including a replacement of those destroyed in the attack such as the Greek Orthodox Church at Ground Zero that NY City regulators nixed the rebuilding of.

That sort of clause is secularly neutral on its face but just happens to exclude the Cordoba Initiative, Ground Zero Muslim Victory, Mosque.

Doing that over the heads of Obama, Pelosi, the Mainstream Media and the NY City Cultural Left would be a cultural/political monkey trap on crystal meth.
