Had Russia not acted the Georgians would have killed or ethnicly cleansed the whole place. It was an attempt to redo the Krajina Holocaust where an American trained Vraotian Nazi army carried out an American battle plan with NATO air assistance & murdered something like 125,000 civilians.

There can be no moral comparison at all between Putin, who acted to prevent a humanitarian disaster & the NATO leaders who authorised genocide of Serbs & cutting them open, by the thousand, while still alive, to provide organs for our hospitals.

cedarford is the kind of person who can't forgive America for not meeting his expectations. a conditional patriot, which is to say, not a patriot at all. "they let jews in so it's better that the whole place go up in flames. now that putin, there's a man i can admire (especially when he has his shirt off)".

express, here's another BREATHTAKING U TURN; next door to Georgia and a few years ago, Russia killed in the tens of thousands, maybe more, and leveled an entire capital city (Grozny) to support that principle of which you speak, sovereign territory. You know, that thing that Georgia inexplicably has none of?

kabud, your posts are fascinating. They would be even more so if we could context them a bit better. Can you tell us something about yourself --nothing that will endanger you, just some sort of frame, that we may separate from any notion you might not be an expert on these things? I ask this in helpful friendship.

Yeah, cjm, you're right. For me Cedarford's posts bring back a line from the Outlaw Josie Wales":

"Don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining!"

This is an imperialist conflict between the US and Russia.

Both want to assert control of the Caucasus because it is rich in oil and other mineral wealth.

The United States has reversed the position it took in the Balkans.

There, the US supported breakaway republics such as Bosnia and Kosovo.

In the Caucasus it is taking the exact opposite line and supporting "Georgian territorial integrity" against the South Ossetian secessionist state.

IT IS A BREATHTAKING U TURN WHICH ILLUSTRATES THE HYPOCRISY OF "OUR" LEADERS.

"There are fears of full-blown war in the region, which is a crucial energy transit route in which Russia and the west are vying for influence. President George Bush pledged US support for Georgia's territorial integrity."

The article explains the background to the situation better than anything you will read in the mainstream media:

C4, that would make sense if America had captured its own ships and enslaved its own crews off the Barbary coast, in order to blame and then make war on innocent pashas, or if Pancho Villa, the 700 medical students, Sitting Bull, and Noriega had been planted agents-provocateurs. No I have no definitive evidence for my argument, but neither do you for yours --and i do have history, patterns, track-records, and common sense building a strong probability. Might or might not carry weight in a court, but this is a blog thread --guessing & speculation, often prejudiced (which on an either/or raises the question, why the one prejudice, and not the other?).

there is no Osetia

people in charge of South Osetia are all- and we know names and exact story on everyone-

all of them are kgb or military officers from Russia

Kremlin provokes West, working to increase oil price since Iran confrontation did not happened as planned

It is also a test of western unity for a future big war

And a signal to Chavez and alike: Kremlin does not care anymore about USA opinion and will support ANYONE acting against USA interest

So expect MORE BAD NEWS

If you check recent speech made by Medvedev(2 weeks , for foreign ambasadors) and some statements by UNKNOWN russian diplomats-

if you read that carefully u will find:

Kremlin specifically made it clear: they are parting with any even superficial friendship with USA

Thats all to it.

Well, and of course war rallies the worst fascist scum in Russia
