Most interesting about this subject (Islamic sadism) is the following: “acid attacks” just show that Islam practices TORTURE. It goes the same everywhere in its Doctrine: from battering, to stoning, to beheading, to hanging (not to mention Hazing in the Military and the “treatement” of prisoners and dissidents in Islamic prisons from Islamic prisoners or jailers toward others, both Non-islamic and Islamic people) – all of those “punishment” are actually TORTURES. The fact of the matter is, violence against women is taking place the world over. In Pakistan acid violence against women (and men!) is happening in high numbers.

Alborz you are extremely ignorant if you think all of the Abrahamic faiths are dangerous. There’s always some bitter atheist around trying to associate Christianity and Judaism with Islamic terrorists. This is a lie. If you knew anything at all you would know that the teachings of the New Testament are the exact opposite of the teachings of the Koran. The Koran demands under threat of violence that people pay God. Jesus, after being subjected to violence, forgave his tormenters, freely giving the true God of peace to humanity. He is the humble Prince of Peace. Those who truly follow him have nothing to do with threats or violence. On the contrary, they sacrifice their own comforts to comfort others. Strangely, I was discussing a topic related to this with my 11 yr. old son. We were discussing why people do such horrible things to other people. I read many of the comments and I don’t believe that just saying that these people who committed these horrible acts against women are of one religious background or another really is the point. Let’s face it, there are MANY in the world (some right in your own countries) that view women as babbles or property. It’s not a matter of changing people’s religious orientation that would make this stop. Many cultures have viewed women only as an ends to a mean. Their worth coming from what they could get through marriages and such. Many cultures have had this view point. Think back a few centuries when the raping of a women was acceptable by most men and it was the woman who was shamed. She would even be shamed within her own house. Many countries have realized that women can contribute within society and have since made them a viable resource. They have realized that although women may not house the brawn, they are capable of problem solving and other resources, thus having a brain. The ideas of the people are what needs to change in order for there to be a difference. It isn’t in the minds and hearts of all men to be evil and to put horrors upon others, but there are enough evil beings in this world that when looking upon those pictures you have to look a bit harder to find the light- women with the strength of spirit to look into a camera and show the world that what happened to them may have only marred the canvass, but the beautiful work lies within…These women have shown a strength of character and I believe it is for this reason that the men who did this, did what they did. They were weak men who couldn’t withstand being opposed- either by a divorce, a broken engagement, or a refusal of marriage and settling a family dispute. Sadly, this happens beyond the veil…in the United States we call it domestic abuse. It happens too frequently! We can not stomp out all evil against women, but as women (and men who know the true value of a women) we should learn to be more supportive to the women who need a voice. There are many cultural expressions of the Islamic faith, just as there are of the Christian faith. How many Christian traditions forbid women to speak in church? How many Christian traditions require “obedience” of the woman in marriage?

“Irshad and the Abuse of Muslim Women”
Prologue … Irshad was sitting in front of her tent and looking with eyes flooded with tears at her six little children. She was feeling terribly hot from the heat of the blazing sun and the Islamic niqab that was wrapping her body from head to foot. Irshad knew that in her country her children would be provided with all care and education that would make them grow up as good citizens. In Afghanistan her sons would not be able to avoid their fate of growing up as terrorists and her daughters of being illiterate and marrying Taliban Mujahedeen. Irshad remembered how her parents and friends tried to stop her from marrying a Muslim immigrant. Nevertheless, at that time she was so blinded by her strong love for her classmate, Mustafa. In those days she saw her Muslim boyfriend as an angel who came down from heaven to give her the love and joy that she longed for. She loved his reddish Arabic complexion and height. She enjoyed hearing his accent when he spoke English. She found Mustafa to be such a polite and loving person. Everything she loved in a man she found in him. In a short period he became her idol and she worshipped him. Whatever, he wanted her to do she did for him. He made her forsake her family, friends, and country and travel with him to his homeland in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Irshad even left her Christian faith and embraced Islam. I am a Pakistani Muslim man and I am appalled to see these images. My heart goes out to these women and I wish I could do something for them. However, to associate these images with Islam is very disingenuous and immoral. Islam does not promote violence against anyone, especially women, in any way (not more than what Christianity does anyway). There are psychopaths in every culture just as there are in the West who will rape, violate, and disfigure women and children. I dare you to prove to me that this sort of thing never happened in USA (yes, I watched your talk shows too so don’t even try). Half your TV shows are full of these types of things (Dexter, Law and Order, CSI etc. etc.), so grow the fu@k up.
As far as changing cultures, I completely agree with people that this has to be fixed. The acid attacks, the genital mutilations, the honor killings etc. are a crime against women and WE must stand up against the perpetrators. The problem is that none of you is willing to do that; instead it fits better in your agenda to attack a religion that has nothing to do with it. Shame on all of you.
