I agree with Susan. It took me awhile to figure it out, but I think I have. If I wear a burqa as a non-muslim, I will be killed. If I do anything that threatens the Muslims and their precious Qu'ran, they will kill me. This is not religious freedom. If I wear a burqa, put it on, take it off, put it on, take it off, I will be threatened. This is not freedom, not religious freedom. Muslilms seem to want to take away our freedoms, take advantage of our freedoms. Are they contributing to our country? If so, we need to hear about it. I'm liberal, but I believe in equality, not special interests. Educate me and the rest of America about what the Muslims are doing to move this country forward.

I guess part of it may be their attitude, as I read above. They are in our country condemning our culture and behavior. Here in Texas, where we have had weeks over 100 degrees, as they have in many of their Muslim countries, I do find it insulting. Their men and them take offense because we feel the right to wear shorts and tank tops and flip flops (nothing sexy, just comfortable). If a Muslim man thinks the worst of seeing a woman's ankle and the right to beat her, I think this is mysogeny. Muslim men don't dress here like they do in their countries, but they force their women to wear these hot, restrictive burqas, which have been used to break the law. I think they should be outlawed. I think the scarf is ok. That's it.

Muslim women do not wear burqas. It is a cultural thing. I have seen a top Macy's saleswoman start wearing a headscarf. I have seen a woman, who runs a Lebanese grocery store with her husband, start to wear the dark robe and scarf, which she had not done for years, if ever. I have a friend from Tunisia. She wears short skirts, etc. Very modern. None of this "muslim" stuff. We try to respect them; but they not only do not want to respect us, they want to destroy us. And they live amongst us. They meet in their little groups in this country to discuss how to take this country down. It's kind of like being a parent. Show respect and tough love. I don't like the burqa and what it represents. I want to empower women, not enable them. Men should not be hiding amongst them. You are going to find that more countries are going to outlaw them, based upon their own behavior--after we have tried to fair and open minded and taken advantage of.

This is the most informative comment I have read to a gut feeling that this must be banned. It is not religious. It is cultural. To wear a burqa, return to your culture. It is not going to be legal in Texas.
