Who needs Al Jazeera to reinvent the truth and obfuscate while reporting what happened in India. We have the New York Times, ABC. CBS, NBC, OPB and MSNBC and the anti american left. Nuff said

What we name crimes, especially in this country, matters so much, even as we are selectively outraged by some types of crime and selectively deny others. What if this were a murder of blonde, blue-eyed girls by a dark-skinned father? Would the media look the other way, for fear of criticism of racism merely for portraying it? What role did their appearance play in the network choosing to air the story of their murder (of course, as Dr. Chesler points out, you can always just make these things up)? What if the girls' father was a white supremacist married to a minority woman, with mixed-heritage daughters he treated poorly because of his belief system? How would the story's themes be played out then? And how very tragic that we are still so enamored of these differences that we've actually codified them (though of course, hate crime won't be mentioned in this case because doing so doesn't send any desired message).

One thing remains true -- these girls were killed for being female. Please keep reminding others of that. It doesn't make their murders "worse" than other murders of daughters by their families -- a truly horrific thing -- but it is the truth. When you think back over the last forty years, you really have to wonder why the systematic, deeply violent repression of women in certain parts of the world has been treated with such nonchalance in this era of rock-star human rights activism.

Phyllis, I appreciate all you have done for these two girls. You are shining light into this very dark and evil "culturistic" excuse for murder against women!

I thank you from my heart for standing vigilant for these girls and for the truth! Never stop as I know there are many Sarah and Amina's out there and this simply must not be allowed on American soil!

Blessings to you!

the concept of 'honour killing' is so foreign to our own laws. It is important to know that the entire family, ie, the mother and the brothers and sisters, and cousins, may be involved in the murder. ie, it is a family/tribe event, NOT one of our own "family law" understanding.

Perhaps the law should be seen as a 'conspiracy' to murder, under the same rubric as going after the Mafia. I would be interested in what Giuliani would have to say about this suggestion.
