Lilith,

Ouch... my level of writing hit a sore spot, did it? Seems like you've read a lot of Mr. Said yourself--or listening to someone who said they had. Problem is, you miss the point. Said's family had a home in "Palestine." Yes, I do know it was under British Mandate--another word would be "colonization." Brits allowed Jews, by the masses to immigrate into the Holy Land from 1920, and they are still doing it. Are they wrong to do this? Some Jews think so. In fact, you are one day going to be on the wrong side of history, because taking other people's land--just because they are living in a land that was colonized and fought over--and they suddenly telling everyone they never had any rights to that land will be a farce you will one day have to explain to your own kids. Oh, and you're right--you can go into "Palestine" just depends WHERE you want to go. There are checkpoints. Their are people who can go in, people who can't, but just know one thing. Edward Said could not go back to his family home after the war. No--he was NOT born in Egypt. His family simply owned a business there, and he spent summers there only, LOL. Well, you've got some of it right, but you need to lay off the personal attacks (brain dead bimbo? that's the best you can come up with)? It's childish and doesn't serve your own interest. Gaza is under siege right now--aid isn't even getting in. Jews who are clever are out there, they know the truth, and they will be your undoing (thankfully).

Below is a link to the US Government witness list:

http://counterterrorismblog.org/newslinks/upload/2007/06/HLF%2BGoverment%27s%2BWitness%2BList.pdf

Note the expected testimony of several of the witnesses linking the HLF not only to Hamas but to the Muslim Brotherhood, that organization that portrays itself as a peace-loving opponent of terrorism.

Another piece of evidence introduced at the trial was an interesting document entitled: "An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America", which is dated 5/22/1991. It was written by Mohamed Akram and consists of 18 pages in English. It is addressed to several Muslim groups in North America. This document is stamped, "US v HLF (Holy Land Foundation) and bears prosecution exhibit number 003-0085, which identifies it as a government exhibit in the the Holy Land Foundation prosecution. It is now in the public venue.

Of particular interest is page 7 of the document, section 4, which is entitled:

"Understanding the Role of the Muslim Brother in North America". It reads;

"The process of settlement is a 'Civilization-Jihadist Process' with all the word means. The Ikhwan must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God's religion is made victorious over all religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim's destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahedeen be equal".

On October 8, 2008, Muslim Brotherhood spokesman, Ibrahim El-Houdaiby, appeared at the University of California at Irvine. He spoke to a group of students in a class per the invitation of Professor Mark LeVine, a Middle East expert who is known to be sympathetic to the Palestinian side in the struggle against Israel. The appearance was open to the public. During the speech, El-Houdaiby presented the Muslim Brotherhood as a peaceful organization that opposed violence. During the Q&A, I confronted El-Houdaibi with the above document and gave him both Arabic and English copies as I read the document for the audience. El-Houdaiby promptly questioned where I had obtained the document and pronounced it a forgery. What ensued was a series of exchanges between El-Houdaiby and me on this blog in which he insisted the document was a forgery and that the Muslim Brotherhood was a non-violent organization.

So what does the verdict in the Holy Land Foundation tell us? Without trying to paint all US Muslims as terrorist supporters, I think it illustrates the undeniable fact that we have a cancer growing in this country. Of course, I understand that very few Muslims in the US could be expected to take the Israeli side. Yet, Israel is our ally, and we are committed to support that country. If US Muslims are sending funds to organizations like Hamas, they are not only supporting terror, but they are working at cross purposes with our government as well.

Sadly, but not surprisingly, with the exception of the Dallas newspapers, it seems that the mainstream media (once again) has chosen not to make this front-page news.

The convictions in Dallas are encouraging. Yet, they are disturbing as well because we are going to have to face an unpleasant truth. We have a 5th column in this country. It is not all Muslims, but there is a

the one or 2 (an arab and a lefty) nutjobs who write these pro-arab muslim terrorist loving posts on the internet, are so dense they actually think we can't figure this out.

really, it is time we cut out the tongues of the anti-semites. even toads pop out of their mouths unable to tolerate their bad breath, it gives off such a terrible stench. very offensive.

no need for security guards to use technology. just take a whiff. and pull them over.

the only just thing to do to hamas supporters, is separate them from civilized society, as this court has done. don't even think of making an appeal. we've had quite enough of your filthy stink.

Krista, honey -- you are such a cute little brain-dead bimbo...Edward Said, indeed!!!

Once upon a time; a long, long time before you and your contemporaries were born, little Edward Said was born into a very wealthy Egyptian family whose principal residence was in Cairo. Pror to the First World War, his father had immigrated to the United States, returning to the Middle East as an American citizen. He returned to Egypt after WW I and there, amid the luxury afforded to the upper classes of Egypt, Said was born and raised.

It is true that Said's wealthy father sometimes sent the young Said to Jerusalem to visit relatives, and Said attended school there for a time, but the image Said created for himself as a suffering Palestinian was purely bogus.
Save your tears for the people of Sudan and Darfur. Although they are black so perhaps that isn't as important to you - certainly it isn't of any importance to their fellow Muslims - the Arabic Muslims, I mean - the ones who are slaughtering and raping the helpless Christians and Animists of Darfur - well, who knew they were sitting on a some of the biggest oil deposits every found in Africa?

Oh, and FYI ...In 1935 when Said was born there was no country of Palestine - as there has never been. Said himself, was born in Cairo, but his relatives in Jerusalem resided in the British Mandate of Palestine - a mandate is not a country - a mandate is an area of governship managed by a foreign power (in this case - Britain) This mandate was an artifical construct of imaginary borders devised primarily by the British, the French, and the Italians, with some influence from the Americans. The mandate came into existence after World War I. Prior to that, the entire area (and more) was part of the enormous and long-lived Ottoman Empire.

After WW II, the area was again divided along serendipitous lines. By August, 1948 - through a final vote in the United Nations - the area was divided thusly: 80% went to create TransJordan (now Jordan)where the majority of the Arab population had inhabited the area for generations ; of the remaining land, 20% went to the remaining Arabs settled in the Palestinian Mandate and the final 20%, mostly desert, went to the Jews, many of whom had been settled in the area for over 5,000 years and any Jews who had managed to survive the Nazi genocide. Later, the over 800,000 Jews driven from their ancient homes in Arabia after the formation of the State of Israel, as well as approximately 70,000 Black Jews (Beta Israel) from Ethiopia were airlifted to Israel and safety.

By the way, should your next travel plans include the Palestinian Authority you actually can fly there - they do have an airport. Or you can go through Egypt. Or you can go by boat and land at Gaza. People fly back and forth all the time to visit relatives.

You really have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, do you when it comes to Said?

Still, I offer the following for your consideration, allthough the level of your writing makes it unlikely that you will comprehend its significance.

“...the politicization of history initiated by Edward Said has obfuscated the root causes of Islam’s traditional hostility toward Jews and Christians from the seventh century onward. Edward Said was a Christian raised in Egypt and educated in America; he taught English literature at Columbia University. A great admirer of Arafat and a member of the PLO’s top Committee, he endeavored to destroy the whole scientific accumulation of Orientalist knowledge of Islam and replace it with a culture of Western guilt and inferiority toward Muslims victims. The obliteration of the historical truth that he constantly pursued from 1978 – starting with his book Orientalism – as well as his hostility to Israel, has prevented an understanding and the resolution of problems that today assail Europe and challenge its own survival.” (Thomas,Jacob. November 12, 2006 )

Yes, Sweetie -- we all know about Edward Said - the problem is, that those of us who are his contemporaries actually remember what countries were called "in the day" -- and there was no country called Palestine.

If you wish to comment intelligently on Middle Eastern politics I suggest you read someone who is less, shall we say, biased?

Edward Said achieved his goal of becoming one the best know names in 20th century historical reconstructionism; and certainly he is considered the finest in his field. No other academic has so successfully revised, re-written, re-viewed, and re-interpretred the arts of the Middle East.

Mr. Said could not have succeeded without the invaluable aid given to him by his fellow scholars; perhaps, most notably the Jewish scholars who were more than happy to help foul the nest of academia.

to Jolly Roger -- when did they release you from the looney bin, bubba?

Most of these posts making excuses for terrorists and using different names doing so are the same person, probably a Muslim using Anglo sounding names (as f that gives him?her legitimacy). Same syntax, same ideas expressed a little differently...same idiot.
Bottom line: Bad people raising money to kill innocent Israeli women and children have been caught and convicted. That's a good thing for Israel, America, and the civilized world. The good guys won and the bad guys lost.
