The Floridians who voted for Nader in 2000 in effect elected George W. Bush. If 1/10 of the Nader voters had voted for Gore, Gore would simply have carried Florida and we would never have heard of hanging chads. One may disagree on whether this was good or bad. I am happier to hear that people are concerned about which candidate to choose than I am when I hear the intense words of partisans. On the other hand, far be it from me to say that partisanship has to be bad.
