That was a beautiful article about Dolores. It was an honor to know her, to spend some time with her, to communicate with her via e mail sending jokes back and forth. And most of all being her cousin. We were suppose to go sailing when my boat was in Florida. A much anticipated trip, because I had not seen Dolores in quite a while. But something came up and she could not make it.
I cherish a picture of Dolores holding me when I was very young and she was a teenager. Everyone in our family was very proud of Dolores. I know I was. I will miss her till the day I die

Clarkie & Joan,
What a beautiful article about Dolores' last days! Thanks so much. I just heard about her passing as I've been traveling and obviously out of touch with my feminist friends.
Dolores was one of my first friends in the movement. We shared some very funny moments together as well as all the serious stuff. Your description of her ability to stay in control of her life till the end is inspiring. Delores was truly Mother Courage.

Thank you for this touching and well written memory of Delores' last days. As the mamager of Mother Corage, Back in the day, Delores and Jill both played a significant role in my life and those of the many many women who came thropugh the doors of the restaurant. Delores and I remembered those days not too long ago with Jill in her LI home. I was so very saddened at the news of her death, as I was saddened by the dissapearance of Mother Courage from West 11th Street, and from the memories of many who record those times.
But Jill and I remember it well and Delores made it possible...made it possible for me to discover a part of myself, my personal power and my love for women. I will miss her alot.....and I feel grateful to all of you who care and loved her in the end.

Although this is a bit late, I would like to express my condolences on the loss of your friend and colleague in the feminist movement, Dolores Alexander. Based on what her friends Linda and Joan have written about her, it appears as though she was a woman who displayed enormous courage and tenacity in the face of horrible adversities as manifested in the illness she was diagnosed with.

It is clear that she dedicated her life to the struggle against oppression of women, the crusade against the proliferation of pornography and was in the forefront of those seeking equality in the work force for women.

Her friends tell us that as a journalist for Newsday she interviewed such celebrities as Andy Warhol. I wonder if this interview took place before or after he was shot by Valerie Solanas and what her thoughts were on this.

Even in her last days and in her final moments Dolores remained true to her principles and her resolve to live. She is a person to be admired for maintaining her resolve and her passion for life. I am sure she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
