<description>A country called Palestine existed until 1948. It appears on maps at that time. Its English-language newspaper was called the Palestine Post. Citizens of that country had a Palestine passport. I know, I have seen them. The national orchestra was called The Palestine Philharmonic Orchestra. The police force was called the Palestine Police. Its residents, both Jewish and Arab, called themselves Palestinians, as is attested in the literature and newspaper reports of the time.

So there certainly was a country called Palestine. In 1947 it was partitioned by the UN to form two new states. One state, Israel exists today, its citizens, Jewish and Arab, holding Israeli passports. The other after a failed attempt by military means to prevent the partition taking place, was annexed by Jordan and Egypt, and after the Six Day War came under Israeli occupation. Its citizens hold Palestine identity documents which allow them to travel abroad.

The idea that &#039;there has never been a country called Palestine&#039; is sophistry.

<description>Phyllis, good for you for tackling this film (specifically and
Hollywood in general. I&#039;m increasingly unable to sit through such
distortive productions, largely because I later find friends and
acquaintances citing them as the final word.

<description>films, holywood in particular, edit the past and future to fit in with their preconcieved ideas.

think about it this way, if and thats a bit IF, the muslims have more control over america, then they can use these films as a form of saying look we agree with you so dont kill us.

thats the cynic line. films are no longer about entertainment, they have to have a message, a moral at the end, which is why less and less people are going to see movies, people dont want to be preached at. they get enough every day.

<description>Such subliminal messages emanating from Hollywood and the mainstream media are absorbed through an osmosis-like process amongst the masses, who basically believe what is presented to them.

It is clear to those who have some knowledge of the Middle East that there is no Palestine, there never was. It is true that prior to 1948, the State of Israel was called Palestine, named after the Philistines who conquered the land, but that of course has nothing to with &quot;Palestinians&quot; of today.

The tragic aspect of revisionist history is that its tentacles have reached far beyond anywhere we could ever imagine. It is now politically correct and chic to refer to Israel as Palestine. Perhaps it also serves as a self-fulfilling prophecy for those who long for the day that Israel will be just a distant memory, safely tucked away in the footnotes of modern history.

What&#039;s even more frightening is the deafening silence from Israel and America. No protests, no loud and raucous debates, no vocal objections made towards this flagrant re-construction of history and blatant propaganda.

All the more reason for those of truth and courage, the King Davids of today, the proverbial flea going against the elephant to raise their mellifluous voices to set the record straight. There is strength in numbers but there is also strength in the truth.

<description>This might be a minor point, but Tommie Lee Jones is a Harvard University graduate who roomed with Al Gore, Jr. The interesting thing about these movies is that they rarely earn any money! It is very possible that this particular film might even be a box office loser. And yet, I suspect the investors are somewhat indifferent.
